Earlier this week we told you about Sandra's upcoming interview this Sunday on Korean tvN. We got the word that the interview will be about 40-45 minutes long and will be available online later on so everyone will be able to watch.
Allkpop has a preview of the interview, so check it out below:
Did you now that in 2005 Sandra Oh was set to star in a Korean filmcalled "Smells Like Butter"? The production was eventually put on hold never to resume again, but this was the news about it back then from writer/director Grace Lee:

Allkpop has a preview of the interview, so check it out below:
On the upcoming July 17th episode of Baek Ji Yeon’s “People Inside”, an exclusive interview with “Grey’s Anatomy”s heroine, Sandra Oh, will air for the first time in Korean broadcasting history.
The interview took place in Los Angeles, at CGV LA, where the staff later reported that Sandra approached the interview with a very enthusiastic manner without hiding her honest and lively personality.
As well as being the winner of the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2006, she has been nominated for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for 5 years straight since 2005, living up to her reputation as the top East Asian actress in Hollywood.
During the interview, Sandra spoke of her love for Korea as a Korean-Canadian and her hopes to one day star in a Korean movie. She also talked about the inside stories behind “Grey’s Anatomy” and how she was cast into the show.
She stated, “If I am to be cast in a Korean movie, I will be happy to take any role. I will study Korean, and if I don’t have any lines, I can act with just my facial expressions. I’ve always wanted to attend the Busan Film Festival, but I was always caught up with work. I want to attend the festival with a piece I star in”.
She also picked “Thirst” as her favorite Korean film and revealed that she has always been a fan of the actor, Song Kang Ho.
Adding on, she revealed the hardships of working as an Asian actress in Hollywood. “It’s exactly as people imagine. Working as an East Asian actress in Hollywood is hard and frustrating, and I do simply get tired of it from time to time. But you must overcome these hardships and be able to look at the bigger picture”, sharing her sentiments.
She also commented, “I’ve been friends with people like Sung Kang, Yunjin Kim even before they were famous. I like both actors very much and their success makes me really happy”, revealing her friendships with other Korean actors and actresses working in Hollywood.
Did you now that in 2005 Sandra Oh was set to star in a Korean filmcalled "Smells Like Butter"? The production was eventually put on hold never to resume again, but this was the news about it back then from writer/director Grace Lee:
Lee first appeared at the San Diego Asian Film Festival with her short film “Barrier Device,” starring Sandra Oh. Lee and Oh will rejoin in “Smells Like Butter” - a sort of “Sex and the City” in reverse.
In the comedy, Oh plays a desperate single woman who travels across the world to find and arrange her own marriage. Lee was so taken with working with Oh in “Barrier Device” that she wrote “Smells Like Butter” with the actress in mind.
“I love Sandra,” Lee said. “She's so compelling to watch and just as dynamic, intelligent and complex in person.”

Meet Detective Sergeant Sarah Chen
As we reported earlier, Sandra Oh has been cast as a detective in a British crime series based on the book Scaredy Cat by Mark Billingham which is currently being filmed in London.
According to the author there are a lot of changes from the book, but he is happy with the adaptation. He also provided this important piece of information about Sandra's character for those who are reading the book:
A Danish review describes Sarah as "promiscuous, passionate in bed and a gypsy in her choice of bedfellows"* . The author described the character like this:
And finally, here is an excerpt from the book where Sarah McEvoy/Sarah Chen makes her first appereance:
According to the author there are a lot of changes from the book, but he is happy with the adaptation. He also provided this important piece of information about Sandra's character for those who are reading the book:
Sandra Oh (best known for Grey's Anatomy) is playing Sarah Chen - a renamed Sarah McEvoy in Scaredy Cat. And very wonderful she is too!
A Danish review describes Sarah as "promiscuous, passionate in bed and a gypsy in her choice of bedfellows"* . The author described the character like this:
McEvoy is a copper who has problems, and its amazing that we often forget the people in professions such as the Police or Medicine are human. I remember when I was researching 'Sleepy Head' - I was surprised to find that there where re-hab clinics just for Doctors, to treat them for Alcohol, Drugs and Stress issues. So many people in these front-line professions have such problems, and McEvoy is no different to many coppers working out on the edge.
- Mark Billingham, Shots
And finally, here is an excerpt from the book where Sarah McEvoy/Sarah Chen makes her first appereance:
“Fucker...”
Thorne glanced to his left. Detective Sergeant Sarah McEvoy stared down the file in front of her. Thorne waited, but for the moment it seemed that she’d said everything that was on her mind. Of all of them, she was the officer who Thorne had known for the shortest time. And he still didn’t know her at all. Tough, no question and more than capable. But there was something about her that made Thorne a little wary. There was something hidden.
- Scaredy Cat, Mark Billingham

A Note From The Author Of 'Scaredy Cat'
Here are some news from author Mark Billingham on Scaredy Cat which Sandra is currently filming in the UK:
Here is the latest news on the TV adaptations, which are now over halfway through shooting...thorne: sleepyhead has now wrapped and we're into thorne: scaredycat. The regular cast (David Morrissey, Aiden Gillan, Eddie Marsan, Lorraine Ashbourne) has been joined for Scaredy Cat by the wonderful Sandra Oh, who you may know from Grey's Anatomy. All very exciting. I myself have filmed a quite breathtaking cameo as "gormless detective in back of shot" which I fully expect to feature on many awards shortlists to come. There's no definite news on when the films will be shown yet, but I'm guessing October/November...

Sandra Oh To Star In A British Crime Drama
Some of you may be familiar with the British crime novelist Mark Billingham and his Tom Thorne-series. His books are now being adopted into a six-episode series with actor David Morrissey who plays the lead, and Sandra Oh who has been cast as Detective Sergeant Sarah Chen:
And here is the book synopsis of Scaredy Cat on which Sandra's episode has been based on:
Sandra Oh has signed up for a role in a new Sky1 crime drama.
The Grey's Anatomy star will team up with David Morrissey for an adaptation of a Mark Billingham novel.
Oh will play DS Sarah Chen in Thorne: Scaredy Cat, which follows the Metropolitan police as they investigate a number of murders in London.
The drama is part of a six-episode series which begins with Thorne: Sleepyhead. Other cast members include Sherlock Holmes star Eddie Marsan and Queer As Folk's Aidan Gillen.
Sky1's commissioning editor for drama Huw Kennair-Jones said: "We're thrilled to have an actress of Sandra Oh's calibre join David Morrissey, Aidan Gillen, Eddie Marsan and the rest of the amazing cast for the Thorne adaptations as they bring Mark Billingham's iconic characters to life on Sky1 HD.
"Thorne: Scaredy Cat promises to be a gripping, multi-faceted drama that'll complement Thorne: Sleepyhead perfectly, promising to make the Thorne series an unmissable addition to Sky1 HD's ambitious drama lineup."
Thorne: Scaredy Cat is expected to air on Sky1 and Sky1 HD in the autumn.
And here is the book synopsis of Scaredy Cat on which Sandra's episode has been based on:
The killer selected his victim at Euston station, followed her home on the tube, strangled her to death in front of her child. At the same time, killed in the same way, a second body is discovered. DI Thorne soon finds out that the police are up against not one, but two serial killers. One is ruthless and in control, while his partner in crime is submissive, compliant, terrified. Thorne must catch a man who will show him that the ability to inspire terror is the deadliest weapon of all...Scaredy Cat is the second book in the series.
