The Casting Of Sandra Oh As Cristina Yang

Grey's Anatomy boss, Shonda Rhimes, posted this tweet today on why she cast Sandra Oh as Cristina Yang:

Originally though, Sandra Oh auditioned for the part of Miranda Bailey aka "The Nazi", while the character of Cristina was written as a "a pert little blonde".

When is Sandra Oh joining Twitter some of you may want to know? Sandra's co-star Kevin McKidd was asked that question on the Tweety Bird a few days ago and if you've ever read/watched an interview with Sandra Oh, you shouldn't be too surprised that the answer is probably never.

Sandra Oh's Stranded Island Movie Pick

Set during World War II, it focuses on a man torn between, in the words of one character, love and virtue. The Simpsons Go 'Sideways'

Tonight is Oscars night and back in 2005 the movie Sideways, which introduced Sandra Oh to a wider audience, won an Academy Award for Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) and picked up a nomination for Best Motion Picture of the Year. It ended up losing out to Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby.

A few years ago The Simpsons did a homage to the movie, including the famous scene where Sandra Oh as Stephanie beats the crap out of Thomas Hayden Church's character with a motorcycle helmet. Check it out in the video below:
