Sandra Oh To Present At The Canadian Screen Awards

Sandra Oh will be a presenter at the Canadian Screen Awards which will be broadcast live on Sunday, March 12 at 8 PM on CBC.

Martin Short will be hosting the awards show which will be held in Toronto.

The Canadian Screen Awards honours the best in Canadian television and film, and have replaced the Gemini and Genie awards, of which Sandra is a former nominee and winner.

The red carpet arrivals will be streamed live on cbc.ca/live starting at 4:30 PM/ET.

Sandra Oh, Chandra Wilson and Justin Chambers Run For 'CureMito!' - Photos

Sandra Oh and her Grey's Anatomy co-stars, Justin Chambers and Chandra Wilson, ran the Rock'n'Roll mini-marathon yesterday in Pasadena in order to raise funds for research for the organisation CureMito!, who helps children who suffer from mitochondrial disease.

Sandra and Justin came out in support of Chandra Wilson, who is an ambassador for the organisation, and her daughter, who has been diagnosed with the condition. To learn more, please visit Curemito.org.

Sandra Oh At The East West Players' Forum - Recap

Sandra Oh participated in an important panel discussion last night hosted by East West Players about diversity in the American theatre and how to provide more opportunities for American Asians, and Broadway World has a recap of the discussion which you can read here.

“…to you in power, to see this not as a burden, but to open and examine the limited thinking we have right now, and grow past it....I understand the reactiveness to [protect] the purity of artistic freedom, but there is room [for diversity]. We are asking the artistic directors to be our advocates, because you are in the room [making decisions].”

Sandra Oh and actress Tamlyn Tomita will be participating in a discussion on race politics at a forum entitled Asian American Opportunities in American Theatre: "Why Not Asian? Why Asian?" on Monday, October 22nd at 2:00 pm PDT/5:00 pm EDT at East West Players David Henry Hwang Theater in Los Angeles.

The event will also be live streamed at http://www.eastwestplayers.org so don't forget to tune in.

The aim of the forum is to find ways for theaters to provide more opportunities for American Asians,  and other panelists will include artistic directors of four leading theaters in Southern California.

The focus will be on issues of inclusion where the following will be discussed: How can Asian American talent (writers, directors, designers, performers) be more visible/participatory in the American Theatre process? What is the role of artistic vision in a community of changing demographics? How can we propel a nationwide movement to advance greater diversity in the American Theatre? What is the strategy we can walk away with after this discussion?
