Grey's Anatomy: Season Finale Teaser

Sandra Oh and the rest of the original Grey's cast members are still in contract negotiations regarding their future on Grey's Anatomy past this season, and in the meantime the show must go on. The contract situation naturally affects the writing of the show, as the final episodes of the season are currently in the works.

The season finale this year could end with the show's biggest cliffhanger yet and it looks like some of our favourite docs could be getting an offer they can't refuse. Here is a spoilerish tidibit from TVLine:

Question: Any word on the status of contract talks between Grey’s Anatomy and Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, etc.? I’m starting to get nervous. —Carrie
Ausiello: No, but remember how Shonda Rhimes hinted to me last month that the season ends in a way that could accommodate any number of possible cast departures? Well, get this: I hear a late April episode will follow Alex, Meredith, Jackson, April and Cristina as they interview for fellowship positions at other hospitals around the country. Said hospitals are apparently wooing the quintet in anticipation of them passing their boards — and they’re wisely entertaining all of their options.

“One Step Too Far” was written by William Harper and directed by Ed Ornelas.

Thursday's episode of Grey's ended on an ambiguous note for Owen and Cristina, leaving everyone to wonder if Owen really is cheating on Cristina or if it was all in her head. Now it looks like this storyline will continue for a while and Kevin McKidd tweeted last week that Cristina and Owen are in for a "crazy ride for a while".

So what do you think, peeps? Is he or isn't he and do you see a future for this couple?

The Simpsons Go 'Sideways'

Tonight is Oscars night and back in 2005 the movie Sideways, which introduced Sandra Oh to a wider audience, won an Academy Award for Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) and picked up a nomination for Best Motion Picture of the Year. It ended up losing out to Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby.

A few years ago The Simpsons did a homage to the movie, including the famous scene where Sandra Oh as Stephanie beats the crap out of Thomas Hayden Church's character with a motorcycle helmet. Check it out in the video below:

Ellen Pompeo Loves Her Some Sandra Oh

Kristin from E! was on the set of Grey's Anatomy a few weeks ago where she interviewed the lovely Ellen Pompeo, who talked about a scene she was filming with Sandra Oh that day (which will air tomorrow next week), as well commenting on what's going on with Cristina and Owen and how much she loves working with Sandra:

ellen pompeo and sandra oh as cristina and meredith in grey's anatomy

What are you shooting today [for the same episode as the crossover]?
Today I am shooting with the lovely and talented Sandra Oh and she is having problems in her relationship and I'm trying to be the voice of reason and I love me some Sandra Oh.
Cristina and Owen [Kevin McKidd]: Is there hope?
I mean, that is a pretty serious situation what happened! And I could very easily see him walking away. Then again, I guess Meredith has a point: Why did he marry her? He knew exactly who she was, but it looks irreparable to me at this point.
But I do love acting with Sandra Oh. That's my favorite part of the show I'd have to say, well I love Patrick [Dempsey] too, but me and Sandra have something special.

True dat, Ellen! Eight years later, and we know that many of you agree, the friendship between Cristina and Meredith is still the best thing about Grey's Anatomy thanks to Sandra and Ellen's great on-screen chemistry.

Cristinaisms #1: Drunken Massage By A Man

Cristina Yang is one of the characters on Grey's Anatomy that usually gets the best one-liners on the show, so we thought we'd make this a regular feature and post a Cristina quote each week. The first Cristinaism is a classic from one of the earlier episodes:

If you have a favourite Cristina quote that you think we should post, then please send it in using the contact form here. Cheers!

Sandra Oh On Cristina and Owen's Marital Woes and What Happens Next

Cristina and Owen's marriage on Grey's Anatomy has come to a standstill and starting next week the couple will turn to couples therapy in an effort to save their relationship.

In a rare interview with TV Guide, Sandra Oh shares her thoughts on the upcoming storyline, why she is excited about it and why you should be too:

It may seem like Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) are moments away from divorce, but Sandra Oh tells TVGuide.com that they will make a real effort to mend the relationship starting Feb. 16, when the couple spends the entire episode with a therapist.
"If you have ever been to couples therapy it's really, really challenging," Oh says, adding that she hopes the Owen-Cristina explosion does not spell the end of their marriage. "Every marriage has to go to a brink," she says. "Both of them are deeply hurt for their various reasons."

"You see a marriage in peril and we take our time exploring that quite honestly," Oh continues. "I'm extremely pleased with the storyline because a lot of times people get together, and break up or whatever, and it's fast. The writers are really taking their time to see when people are at loggerheads, and both sides of the argument can be understood. That's where it gets really, really tricky."

The tension between the couple will also begin to affect Cristina's other relationships. Uncharacteristically, Cristina won't even turn to Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) for comfort.

Says Pompeo: "Cristina doesn't want her help. She's dealing with it solo and pushing Meredith away. Certainly, it's going to get worse before it gets better."

If you know your Grey's Anatomy history then you may recall that Cristina and Owen have attended a few therapy sessions together before. Click here for a refresher where you can also read more about how Sandra and co-star Kevin McKidd were involved in creating one scene in particular.

This will certainly bring a nice change from those monotonous scenes in the OR. Now that you've heard Sandra's take on this, what are your thoughts dear peeps?

Cristina/Owen: A Message From Grey's Boss On Things To Come

A word from Grey's boss Shonda Rhimes to all the Cristina/Owen fans out there about what's coming up for your favourite couple this season:

[Spoiler Alert]

@twistdbutterfly: I really hope you haven't forgotten that Cristina and Owen have fans..we exist..you know we exist, right?
@shondarhimes: I DO know you exist. I'm very glad you exist. I'm thrilled you exist. Because I'm also a Cristina/Owen fan. I'm obsessed with those characters. So I'm going to tell you all something: What is coming next WILL BE DIFFICULT. And PAINFUL. And very VERY ADULT. Many of you won't like it while it is happening. Many of you will shout at your TVs while it is happening. But I think some of you will recognize your own marriages in Cristina/Owen. And I think it is going to be amazing for these two characters and ultimately bring extraordinary growth. Also, the vent room is coming back.

And remember dear peeps, expect some great acting from both Sandra Oh and co-star Kevin McKidd in upcoming episodes.

Sandra Oh's Inspiration For Alt-Reality Cristina Yang

Tidbit straight from Sandra Oh about her inspiration for playing the new alternative reality Cristina Yang in this week's episode of Grey's:

Cristina is flying solo: Without Meredith as her person, Cristina (Sandra Oh) has become a very stern, lonely, serious doctor. "For me, my inspiration was Emily the Strange and Wednesday Addams," Oh says of playing the new Cris.

TV Guide's Natalie Abrams has interviewed Sandra on the set of Grey's Anatomy earlier this week, so a longer interview is to be published soon.
