How will Owen and Cristina be changed in Grey's Anatomy's alternate universe? — Vanessa
NATALIE: For one, they're not together. Owen is actually with Callie (!?), and executive producer Shonda Rhimes calls that relationship "the largest mistake of both of their lives."
As for Cristina, well...
"It's the idea that without Meredith to be her ally in anything, and if Meredith hadn't been there to cut her out of that wedding dress, who would Cristina have been?" Rhimes asks. "She's just a fundamentally different person, and, I think, a lonely one."
Yay or nay?

This is exactly why I can't get Cristina fans who love this frienship so much. It's always written as Meredith is the most important relationship for Cristina but not the other way around and that little spoiler proves my point once again. Meanwhile Meredith's outcome will more be about her relationship with Ellis, Cristina's is about freaking Meredith being there to cut her out of a dress, seriously? Like Cristina did not have a monumental experience growing up that made her so obsessive and driven to be a heart surgeon. You mean to tell me that Meredith Grey should have more of an affect on Cristina than the father that she watched die, possibly surviving?

The problem for me is not Meredith really, because Meredith is a character, Shonda and her writers control what she does and does not do. They show on screen what is important to them and Crisitna clearly is only important to bring the angst to the show and to play off of Meredith.

Please... I can't stand this relationship anymore because while they can view Meredith outside of her relationship with Cristina enough to give her a decent AR storyline that has nothing to do with Cristina, they can't do the same for Cristina.
This is why that true love story bullshit and soulmate stuff that Shonda pedals with this friendship is total bullshit.
