After surviving the shooter rampage that claimed the lives of two doctors at Seattle Grace Hospital on the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) realize that life is too precious — and will tie the knot during the show’s Sept. 23 premiere on ABC.
“It’s very surprising,” Oh tells PEOPLE. “Hopefully it will make sense [to viewers]. After something as obliterating as the shooter comes in, when push comes to shove Owen says, ‘I want to spend my life with you.’ It’s almost clearer and easier to make that decision.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time Cristina was about to say “I do.” In season 3, she and Burke (Isaiah Washington) nearly tied the knot. But in the end he backed out, leaving her heartbroken in her wedding dress.
Things are very different this time around. “When she was about to marry Burke many of the decisions weren’t really hers,” Oh says. “She never wanted to get married or wear ‘the dress.’ Having a much more relaxed and casual wedding is closer to who she and Owen are.”
The happy occasion was well-received by all the actors on the set of Grey’s, but perhaps not for the reasons you’d expect. Says Oh, “I think people were more happy and giddy not to be wearing scrubs.” –Monica Rizzo

omg this is soo awsome! But Shonda did say herself Owen and Cristina get married not just have a wedding get married and I think Kevin said it to about how they are going to be as a married couple will be interesting to watch so I am thinking and very much hoping they do get married for sure! I wonder if Cristina will wear the ring like at the hospital cause she wouldn;t wear Burkes ring, omg I so hope we get to see the proposal to!! Its probably something so spontaneous and romantic seeing how Owen is so intense and passionate about Cristina! I can't wait till the premier!!!
I'm excited, but I don't want to be too excited because Shonda always disappoints... but I like them, I do buy that they love each other and looks like Sandra likes the plot, so yeah, well.
They do look great together. I still hope that will we will get to see the proposal as a sneak peek. I want him to pop the question to Cristina in their vent room, the room that fans love to see them in.
They both look great in this picture and I'm definitelty hanging on the edge of my seat! Worst of all, I'll have to be hanging there until September 24th! I live in the Netherlands and I'll be able to watch the episode on the internet only then...

And red is the color of her dress too, I knew Cristina's dress would be her favorite color, the color of blood! hehe
Is Owen's hair blonde in this? NO! I liked it so much better red!
And I know KMK is a natural blonde, but still! That stupid Rebirth theme... changing everything on me! Lol.
So excited to see Cristina and Owen marry! Love them!
