Sandra Oh To Star In A British Crime Drama

Some of you may be familiar with the British crime novelist Mark Billingham and his Tom Thorne-series. His books are now being adopted into a six-episode series with actor David Morrissey who plays the lead, and Sandra Oh who has been cast as Detective Sergeant Sarah Chen:

Sandra Oh has signed up for a role in a new Sky1 crime drama.

The Grey's Anatomy star will team up with David Morrissey for an adaptation of a Mark Billingham novel.

Oh will play DS Sarah Chen in Thorne: Scaredy Cat, which follows the Metropolitan police as they investigate a number of murders in London.

The drama is part of a six-episode series which begins with Thorne: Sleepyhead. Other cast members include Sherlock Holmes star Eddie Marsan and Queer As Folk's Aidan Gillen.

Sky1's commissioning editor for drama Huw Kennair-Jones said: "We're thrilled to have an actress of Sandra Oh's calibre join David Morrissey, Aidan Gillen, Eddie Marsan and the rest of the amazing cast for the Thorne adaptations as they bring Mark Billingham's iconic characters to life on Sky1 HD.

"Thorne: Scaredy Cat promises to be a gripping, multi-faceted drama that'll complement Thorne: Sleepyhead perfectly, promising to make the Thorne series an unmissable addition to Sky1 HD's ambitious drama lineup."

Thorne: Scaredy Cat is expected to air on Sky1 and Sky1 HD in the autumn.

And here is the book synopsis of Scaredy Cat on which Sandra's episode has been based on:
The killer selected his victim at Euston station, followed her home on the tube, strangled her to death in front of her child. At the same time, killed in the same way, a second body is discovered. DI Thorne soon finds out that the police are up against not one, but two serial killers. One is ruthless and in control, while his partner in crime is submissive, compliant, terrified. Thorne must catch a man who will show him that the ability to inspire terror is the deadliest weapon of all...
Scaredy Cat is the second book in the series.
