Cristina Yang's Breakdown - The Scene

Here is one standout scene from last night's episode of Grey's Anatomy that has got people talking Sandra Oh and the four-letter E-word:

Also, here's a tweet from Grey's boss Shonda Rhimes who just answered a question regarding Cristina's storyline this episode/season(?):

@shondarhimes: I totally hear you. I do. But it sounds kinda like you feel a "better storyline" is a cheerful storyline. One where she smiles, blandly happy from the lack of conflict in her world, and gets to do almost NO awesome acting or deep character work? I don't think she'd like that. Sandra likes it when it's tough and complex. RT @ultrablue0304 Why can't Cristina catch a break? I wanted to jump through the TV and give her a big hug. Sandra deserves a better storyline

It not clear which aspect of the storyline either of them are referring to though, but are your thoughts, dear peeps? Have you enjoyed Cristina this first half of the season and is there something you would like to change or see more/less of?

yes, cristina needs more independent storylines. Both hardcore and moving scenes that bring out her true character

Heck if you want Cristina to carry Meredith's baby then go right ahead but find something else for Teddy/Kim Raver to do and stop intruding on Cristina's storyline. I have tons of stuff for Cristina to play that would add angst and none of it would need to include Teddy, or any mentor for that matter. I have no idea what kind of BULL Shonda is peddling but what else is new. Sandra Oh does not need to have a storyline year after year that includes a mentor in order for her character to play something that is tough and complex (eye roll) sell it elsewhere. Maybe to a viewer who has not been watching this show for eight seasons thank you very much. As if any of her writers give a ..... about SO/Cristina and what she has to play. No, the brass at the top and her writers care about Scott Foley and how long they could keep him and that it gave KR something to play off of and so that she can yet again invade the C/O storyline and we can find out more about her past.

I don't care about Teddy's past, especially since I'm still trying to picture Cristina's after eight seasons.

What I want is to see Cristina dealing with the relationship she has with her husband. I want to see his mother who showed her face like once and had three words. I want to see Cristina's mother. How in the world does one write a woman getting married, or having a baby or abortion and never bring up the first woman she has ever had a relationship with, or the first man. This is when the relationships with parents surface the most whether they were good or bad or in between, marriage, childbirth, death, yet you see none of these people in these storylines. Well you saw Callie's and Arizona's and the scenes were pretty darn good, much more than Cristina and Owen have ever gotten.

Quite frankly, I'm tired of the who attendings are the best and more competent and therefore have no respect for the those wet behind the ears residents. When Bailey was a resident and even Callie no one treated them the way they continue to treat Cristina IMO because she gets the least amount of respect. To point of writing Meredith, going to Teddy asking her why Cristina is not getting this surgery and that, she sounded like a mother talking to a teacher about her kid and I DID NOT LIKE IT ALL. I'm am beyond nauseous of the same old Cristina needs to learn this, she needs to learn that, apparently still more than any other doctor/resident.

I want Teddy out of Cristina's storyline. Or, I want her to play less of a role in it like Arizona plays in Alex's since they are NOT part of each other's personal lives. I don't want Cristina in Teddy's personal life and I sure as hell don't want Teddy in Cristina's. I don't think there is any character who has had a storyline repeated at nauseum like Cristina. I don't care about her mentor, don't care to see her needing one so much anymore, don't care to see her making some bucket list to give to a mentor, to find her surgeries. I want to see Cristina as a woman, a grown woman from now on and something about the way they write her relationships with these mentors seems so much more child like than any other mentor/student relationship on this show and it's no longer cute or entertaining.
