Sandra Oh Joins Canada's Walk Of Fame

Canada’s Walk of Fame announced today that Sandra Oh will be one of this year's inductees.

Each inductee will receive their tribute on Saturday, October 1 in a ceremony at Toronto’s Elgin Theatre. Their names will be cemented into the sidewalks of Toronto’s Entertainment District.

The Canada’s Walk of Fame televised Awards will be broadcast nationally in October on Global and Slice™.

About this year's inductees, which also include actor Ryan Reynolds, musician Burton Cummings, comedian/actor Russell Peters, tennis player Daniel Nestor, astronaut Dr. Roberta Bondar and late author Mordecai Richler:

The class of 2011 includes seven new inspiring and celebrated Canadians who have excelled in their fields and are a part of Canada’s legacy.

Joining the 131 existing inductees, the 2011 honourees will be added to Canada’s Walk of Fame, which annually recognizes individuals for their achievements in various fields, including music, sport, film and television, science and innovation, in addition to the arts: literary, visual and performing.

Commemorating the 2011 inductees, the Canada’s Walk of Fame Awards will feature special guest performances and celebrity presenters.

“Each one of our inductees has made their mark on Canada’s colourful landscape and helped define to the world what it means to be Canadian,” said Peter Soumalias, President and Founding Director, Canada’s Walk of Fame. “We are thrilled to honour and celebrate our inductees’ dedication and passion to both their craft and community at this year’s ceremony.”

About Canada's Walk of Fame:

          Chemistry

Why do some people like Cristina and Owen on Grey's Anatomy? The following is an observation from an Italian journalist from an interview with Kevin McKidd and Sandra Oh published in the Italian magazine Telefilm in September 2009:

          sandra oh kevin mckidd chemistry

          (Translation from Italian)
McKidd, former star of Journeyman, resumed the role of the hero in the white uniform of the Dr. Owen Hunt, saving human lives again, but this time without temporal lifts and with the help of the scalpel. It could only be a doctor from the camp, used to discipline and ready to adventure, the kind of man Cristina can fall in love with. After Burke Indeed, the comparison would be difficult to stand ...

In fact, just to see him next his colleague Sandra Oh let me understand why these two work together on the screen. They sit in the middle of the corridor Seattle Grace Hospital, on the set in Los Angeles. She arrives a little late but as soon as she sees him from afar she lights up and runs to hug him, she brings her chair near to his chair and, constantly looking at him, she speaks looking into his eyes.

She recalls me Gillian Anderson: When I met Sandra Oh the first time it seemed a bit icy and detached, unwilling to autoirony, while with Kevin as shoulder she becomes another person, cheerful, amusing and almost funny. Just as Mrs. Scully's The X-Files: she seemed austere and a British demeanor, but with David Duchovny she suffered almost a metamorphosis, as if she had seen the sun for the first time. The Americans call it "chemistry" ...

Unfortunately, we don't have the actual interview part with Sandra.

          Date Squad: Short Film

In 2001 Sandra Oh appeared in the short film Date Squad with Amanda Peet and Adam Scott (Parks & recreation) where Sandra is being fierce as always:

Full film and synopsis are below. Or just skip to the 2:10 minute mark for the dancing part:

          Date Squad (9:32 min)
Plagued by a paucity of second dates, Belkis Felcher (Amanda Peet) is truly a romantic train wreck.

Her well-intentioned sister takes matters into her own hands and hires Date Squad, headed by Alpha Baby (Sandra Oh), to perform a full-scale intervention, including a makeup and wardrobe makeover, covert conversational tips and seduction secrets.

Despite their good intentions, fly moves and high-tech gadgetry, even Date Squad may not be able to help Belkis, which may not be such a bad thing!
